A couple of weeks ago I was commissioned to make a wedding cake for a reception of a girl from our ward. Of the 3 wedding cakes (my own, Shaina's, and this one) I have made, this one tops them all! It is my favorite. I actually made everything from scratch. A chocolate cake, with buttercream icing, and rolled fondant to make the smooth look. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun to do! I made a total of 9 batches of cake, 6 batches of icing, and 2 batches of fondant. That adds up to 5 lbs. of butter, 18 cups of flour, 18 cups of sugar, 27 eggs, 1 1/2 gallons of milk, 27 oz. of unsweetened chocolate, and 12 lbs. of powedered sugar! Unfortunately, I left for CA the day before the reception, so I didn't actually get to eat any of the finished cake, but I ate way more than enough of the cake crumbs and icing beaters! I did hear, however, that the cake was a hit! I'm so glad it turned out!
